Hi everyone,

Can anyone recommend any books to do with music? Whether thats music theory, practice, music in general. I want to learn more about music but I find some books very plain and would like something which is fun to read yet informative. Hope this makes sense!

Thanks

Need a bit more detail really. What exactly do you want? Books on how to practice effectively, books on theory, books about composers, actual printed music or what?

Well anything really! I want books on all sorts of topics for example: books on theory, books on exams, books on musical composers. Anything to read and learn more about the subject. ANYTHING :0)

One more thing - not sheet music.

Well, you've obviously got an internet connection.

Why not go Googling? Much faster.

"Music" is produced (in the classical world) by "composers". Of my substantial music library, I'd say half the books are classic 'life and works' books about composers. Do certain composers really seem to be on your wavelength, so to speak? If so, read these standard books about them and their works. Which composers do you like especially?

Download the Diploma reading list and you can find both instrument specific and general music books. If you can't find something in that massive list....
