Hello everyone!
I've been playing Rutter and Mozart (3rd movement Concert in G) since the summer holidays, and can play them quite well. However, I'm in my last year at school and don't have as much time as I used to for flute practice. My teacher said last week that I should choose a different piece that won't take as much practice time (i.e. easier) so that I can manage to play it well with my limited time budget. I have the following pieces (not necessarily easier, but ones I've always wanted to play):
Bach sonatas (in C, E, and E minor), Telemann fantasias, Mouquet's Flute de Pan, Schubert's Arpeggione. I have the music for all of the above, and wonder what all you flautists would recommend. I've played around with a few, but not had a serious go at them!
Thanks,
Charlotte smile.gif

Their all really great pieces! I haven't look at any of them in detail but really like the Schubert! Not much help I know! Lets hope some one with better advice comes along soon!

I'd have to tell you to play La Flute De Pan. It's one of my favorite flute songs, and I even named myself after it. But it is pretty hard, and I'd say it's harder than the Mozart Concerto. I love the first movement.

My absolute favourites from your list are the last two movements of the Bach E minor and the first movement of the Mouquet. Having said that, I love the Arpeggione and the Telemann as well, not to mention the Bach E major.

If you're looking for alternative AB Grade 8 pieces I'd go for the Bach E major and the York Bowen (which I know isn't on your list, but is by far the easiest List B piece technically). smile.gif

Thanks for your replies, though they're all different! I had hoped you would all cry in unison: "play xy!" laugh.gif I really like the Arpeggione, so I'll suggest that to my teacher! But Bach's E minor is great too...and...oh, the choice... blink.gif smile.gif

I love the Arpeggione. I don't know how the others go though smile.gif

One of the nicest flute pieces I've ever heard is the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto!

Also something called "Carnival of Venice?" huh.gif Flautists may know this? :S
