Hey,
I'm doing my grade 5 oboe in March and I'm kinda worried cause I haven't done a grade in about 3 years cause I skipped grade 4 then went a year without lessons, the only time playing being at orchestra for two and a half hours every Saturday morning unsure.gif . I'm playing Mozart's Divertimento, Orientale and a study from Hinke. Are there any oboists who could help me a little on any of this?

Hi Stephie

Glad to hear you've taken up the oboe again and good luck with the grade 5. What sort of help are you wanting?

Hi Stephie,

I'm doing Grade 5 Oboe in March too - I'm doing the Orientale, the Hinke study and the Corelli concerto (or the Cimarosa from the new list if I can persuade my teacher to let me - I much prefer it!).

The pieces are OK but I'm very worried about the scales and aural tests etc, and might ask if I can leave it until the summer ph34r.gif

Good luck!!

I really don't like the Orientale for some reason! The study's cool and Divertimento too! All the help I wanted really was something to boost my confidence a little cause I haven't done a grade in ages and maybe something to calm my nerves when I'm going to do it!

Awww, I wish I could suggest something, but I get terribly nervous myself. Do bananas work for you?

I just persuaded my teacher to let me do the Cimarosa Siciliana so I am v. happy biggrin.gif

Does that mean you don't have to do the Orientale? Lucky you =( lol what do you mean by bananas?! Lol!!! =D

Nope, I'm doing the Siciliana, the Hinke Study and the Orientale (but I like that piece so that's OK biggrin.gif).

Bananas are supposed to help calm your nerves, if you eat one before an exam! Lots of people here swear by them, but it didn't work for me....

No matter, I did grade 5 three years ago and I'm doing grade 7 now with no probs at all!
