Other than the obvious advantage of being able to play the B note below the middle C, is there any merit in having a flute with a B foot joint? I was being told by a salesman that comparing two flutes of exactly the same material, the one with a B foot joint, will have a thicker and more resonant tone regardless of what note you are playing , because the tube of the B-foot joint flute is longer. How true is that?
