I and a colleague shared a concert of organ music on behalf of a local church last Wednesday evening. We each did an hour using an electronic organ for light/popular music, I also played their own digital classical organ, and then we finished up with duets on the two instruments.
However, the purpose of the concert was for church funds. The church seats 96 - and 88 people attended, which for a local ORGAN concert is very good.
I'm told that today, in the church, it was announced that the concert had raised £310.00 !! smile.gif

Well done - it must be a great feeling to have enjoyed your concert, had a big audience and have raised all that money for the church funds. You must have been on a real high afterwards.

Well........in order to get as many "posteriors on pews" I played a pretty varied selection, reserving the classical pieces for the church's digital instrument - Dubois' Toccata in G, Whitlock's "Folk Tune" and one of the Daquin "Noel".
That pleased the (very) small number of classical organ fans. The rest of it was on an electronic organ (theatre style) including marches by Eric Coates and Jack Strachey, a selection of "Moon Tunes" - Moonlight In Vermont, Blue Moon......and so on. A "Bird" selection - Coates' A Brown Bird Singing, Lark In The Clear Air, Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square, get the idea.....Ketelbey's "In a Persian Market" with all the appropriate gongs, cymbals, drums and tinkly things, and a "Dickensian Selection" featuring music connected with Dickens' stories - "Consider Yourself" from "Oliver", "If I ruled the World" from "Pickwick" and the waltz from "Great Expectations" - the John Mills/Valerie Hobson/Martita Hunt version (194?)

Thanks everyone.

I MAY be playing at a church NEAR YOOOOOO!!

diapason, as much as I'd love you to play at a church near me, my organist is heavily protective of our church organ, so he probably wouldn't let you. Congratulations on the fund-raising effort.

Great, well done!
