Sorry to hear that trudi, not really what you need is it. Have you been to the doctors? You are ready for your exam now, don't panic, and try to rest in these last few days.
Hope you feel better soon.

I had to do my Grade 2 with pneumonia! Its been hanging around for 5 weeks now and shows no sign of going away. It was ok, except for the having to walk up and down the stairs at the venue.

Blimey, and I thought flu was bad ! If I was playing the piano, at least I wouldn't have to blow !!!

Hope you start feeling better trudi! Although being ill is clearly not a good thing - sometimes it can take the pressure off a bit and reduce nerves 'cos you are too busy thinking about being poorly!

Trudi, if you're feeling ill - GO HOME AND GO TO BED!
Not only to give yourself a fighting chance of recovering for your exam, but also to avoid making your co-workers ill.
Open your bedroom window, tuck yourself in warmly, drink as much water as you can stand and rest. If you feel achey, take a paracetemol before you turn in.
Hope you feel better soon, and if we don't hear from you beforehand -
GOOD LUCK WITH THE EXAM.
Cheers

If you have worked hard up till now, which I'm sure you have, those extra days practice aren't going to make much difference - you may find the rest from practicing is actually beneficial. Dose yourself up, get as much sleep as possible, let people wait on you and hopefully you'll be OK to get to the exam and do as well as possible. Good luck and hope you feel better quickly.

Sorry Trudi, I didn't read properly! I was doing piano. If you're playing a wind instrument you must be concerned! At my exam there was a girl playing flute who had a terrible cold/flu and apparently she did alright.
I agree, go home and go to bed, there is nothing else you can do for flu except wait and if you're in the office you will infect everyone!
All the best for your exam!

At home drinking hot lemon and honey, warm infront of the fire, reading theory !!!
Thanks to you all for the words of encouragement, and yes, if I don't know it by now, I'll never know it !! Before exams people in France say one word to you and you must NOT say "Thankyou"!!! That word is 'merde', I was quite surprised at first, when people said that to me, but now I kind of like it so to all you others out there taking an exam !!!!
"merde" !!!!

Very carefully - no sudden movements or sharp intakes of breath (anything to avoid coughing)! It wasn't officially diagnosed until two days later - I didn't go to the doctor before 'cos I thought it was just a nasty cough and it was during the rounds of pre-Christmas concerts. I didn't really enjoy Christmas that year..

No kidding!
It's amazing you managed to control your cough enough to play.
Trudi - stay warm and get rid of your flu.

hi kaytjay, the 'flu' seems to be turning into cold, I was totally bunged up this morning, but I'll drink lots of water like you said and hope that in two days I can breathe normally ! Always a bit of a risk exams in the winter !!

Trudi, be really careful! I had what I thought was flu and then that's what turned into the pneumonia! At the first sign of anything other than clear phlegm get yourself to the drs! My music teachers husband is a singer and he had the flu at the same time as me, went immediately to the dr as soon as it went to his chest, got antibiotics and is 100% well now. I took 10 days to get to the dr, and I am still sick 6 weeks later! Take care!
