You don't need to take a year out, you already seem a competent musician. Come to Bangor, I'm there!!

Hey Kelly,
I'm at university already, but I'm doing a maths degree so nothing to do with music! I teach piano as well, and in between staring at wierd numbers and symbols, I'm forever on the piano.
I hear though that there is a musical university in manchester, as one of my friends goes there. She's not grade 8 at all, she played french horn to grade 7 i think, and still got accepted. The university is there to help you gain experience with music, that is, if you want to do a music degree.
A degree lasts 3 years, and by the end of those 3 years you can expect to be diploma standard. Why take a year out to get better at your instruments, when the university will do that for you?
Grade 7 and 8 are advanced, and some universities will accept you with grade 8 in an instrument if you don't have an a level in music. So that tells you something.
Check the university in manchester, I'm sure there's a music one there. Only if you want to do music ofcourse.
