I bought a Logik MP3 player from PCWorld for £20. It has an inbuilt recorder and plugs into a USB port to transfer files to the computer (and thence to YAP).

My son as just had a new MP3 player for his birthday, that could be an option !
I've just started to download 'Audacity' software.

I have some free time at the moment, and plan to record a few pieces for the website. My friend has a video camera, I was just wondering how easy it is to put videos up on the site.

Very easy - encode them down to a reasonable size using the program of your choice (Windows Movie Maker works well), email to me and I can put them up as if they were any other recording .

I don't think you realise what kind of computer illiterate idiot you're dealing with. The word 'encode' has already got me in a cold sweat. I'll wait until i've got it on film before asking again, but be warned...

It's okay, I'm sure we'll be able to help, or find a website that says how to do it step by step. Do you have some means of getting it on the computer?

Not sure yet. It's not my camera, but it's a fairly new one, so i assume it must have the necessary cables. My friend also has a laptop, so i'll try and rope her into helping me do all that. It will probably be in a week or so.

Jod: I've indentified your file now, I'll dig up the details from your email and reinstate it on the site (it was only the database entries that link to the files that went missing). As always new material welcome .

Have also restored all of the old comments that we have: we don't have many, it's only the really old ones that were made when the site was running on my machine (in 2005).

Barry, I'll also send you the finished Sibelius file - I have added an extra instrument, do we have a viola player for the recording session?

I believe we will - we'll need to have a look at the difficulty level of the part though Oddball. Ideally, we'd like as many people involved in each work as possible - so if you can double some parts up for me, it'll mean your piece is more likely to 'make the cut'.

If I send you the .sib file then Barry, could you give some suggestions? I'm open to anything being doubled / swapped for another instrument if necessary / doubling.
