First of all, thanks to one and all for your messages.
To Jonathan - I played
Allemande - JS Bach (A1)
Sonata - CPE Bach (B1)
Arabesque - Debussy (C9)
So far, I've only had the total, not the breakdown of marks. However, my advice would be as follows.
1. Play your pieces to as many people as can bear to listen to them. Get used to playing in front of others.
2. I made a table of ALL the scales and arpeggios, cut it up into individual cells, and put them into a box. Every day, I'd take out ten or so, and play them. Any that weren't perfect straight off, I'd put aside for special attention. Any that worked right away, I put back in another box, until the first box was empty and the second box was full. Start again.
3. Unless you're very gifted or lucky, do sight-reading EVERY day.
4. Don't do what I do, and wait until three weeks before the exam to try the Aural Test. The Aural test at Grade 8 is HARD, unless you have a very good ear. Do a few minutes every week.
Good luck!
