It's a pity that Grade 5 and Diploma exams don't carry UCAS points.

Grade 5 is too low probably.
And DipABRSM is supposed to be the level of the first year anyway, so for some, there wouldn't be much point.

Hmmm, I guess you're right about Grade 5. But with DipABRSM, surely there should be *SOME* credit for anyone who gets it before going to Uni!

Most of the offers aren't in points anyway, and if you're not doing music they don't have to consider the grades you've done. And strangely enough, I was able to put my grade 5 theory on my UCAS form.

You can put anything you want on your form. Doesn't necesairly mean you'll get points for it though.

my grade 8 musical theatre exam was 75 ucas points (distinction) ... hmm... leaves me pondering as to why the diploma doesn't hold ucas points?!

That's true, I suppose, only why do they even have it as an option in the drop-down menu thing. I wouldn't have put it in otherwise.

While it may not be taken into account as part of a uni entry system, it's perhaps worth exploring whether you can APEL any of your studies using your diploma credits. I'm not sure whether you can or not in music.

I've had an audition at cardiff, its really easy don't worry. (although if you need a piano part, take a relatively easy one to play, as the person auditioning me could only play the first and last pages!)

really? i found my interview at cardiff harder than my one at cambridge! i got handed a piece of lute tab and asked loads of really complicated questions about it, and we had a written exam where we had to analyse either a song or a string quartet and write an essay about it...
did you guys have to do the same kind of thing?
(don't worry if you are applying there, it wasn't all that scary! i just wasnt too impressed because when i got there they hadn't even read my UCAS form and didnt have a clue who i was - the department was nice though)
