Is that still possible if I take back piano grade 8 at this time?

I've got merit in piano grade 7 in 2002 (16yrs). I stop learning is because 1. laziness 2. money problem

The Pratical Exam application expire date is 16th Jan 2006, I hav to decide very soon.

I would say it depends on how good your pieces and scales are just now. If you haven't made a start on either the pieces or scales then I would be tempted to say no - don't do it. But if you've already learned the scales and can play the pieces hands together even at half-speed but accurately, then I'd think you were in with a chance. If I had a pupil wanting to do grade 8 in the spring, that's what I'd be expecting of them. And they'd have been learning their pieces for a good few weeks already.

There's no reason it shouldn't be possible for you to come back to piano and take grade 8 when you're ready, so why the rush to do it this time? Take up piano again, start learning some interesting repertoire and see how things go. When you feel ready then start working on the grade 8 requirements and decide when you're ready to do the exam. There's nothing wrong with doing it next year and giving yourself time if you just want to get better at playing the piano .

I have no enough time... As I will go further study in next year...

I haven't start anything yet, neither scales nor pieces

But in these time I still can play and never totally give up piano.

Malaysia's Exam Period is about Jun-Aug

Wow that's coming up quick! If you're up to it, and you know you won't have this opportunity for a while go ahead. When I prepare for exams, I usually start some 9 to 12 months before, but that is because I don't make too much progress . If you are confident and know you will have the time/money to work diligently towards this goal, then maybe you should gogogo!

Money is a big problem..

But time is okay..
I'm now in college hostel, and our society hav own piano(but electric one )

I really like to struggle for it, that's a very big regret thing in my life...

about 5~6 months, is that possible???

Start preparing and enter when you are ready.
I think that's the way it happens for most people.

is there a piano teacher or a good pianist that can waitch you play, and test your aural and sight reading/ scales etc... and determine whether you're suitable to take on grade 8? Even if it's just a good friend who has a lot of piano experience?

I've done my grade 8 piano exam yesterday!

I did my Grade 8 exam last 2 days,..now is also waiting for the result,..give me pressure for 1 month waiting..:'(
As for Lyr, i recommend u to go ahead as u have already made ur own decision, just be confidence and work hard. For ur information, i've never tried any ABRSM practical exam before, but in the end, i straightaway jumped to Grade 8 with 10 mths preparation (before have stopped for few year). Hope i can pass my exam.So, i also believe u can do it since u have Grade 7 practical exam's experience. Be confident and go ahead!!! Good luck
