I was really pleased when one of my christmas presents this year was my grade 5 clarinet certificate! My parents had wrapped it up for me to open! I got 128/150, a merit which was good, but TWO MARKS OFF DISTINCTION!

The best bit was seeing the result i got for the aurals, because i wouldn't sing in my lessons and my teacher wasn't going to put me in, but i ended up getting 16/18! wow!

Well done. I'm sure you're really pleased.
As you say yourself, just TWO marks off distinction. It really isn't that difficult to get 18/18 for aural at grade 5 and IF I was your teacher I would be saying that with a bit of effort in your aural/singing, distinction wouldn't have been out of the question.
Just a thought!
