Hello there

I've just spent the last hour or so browsing the forum topics and have found everyone's comments really inspiring!

At the grand old age of 30 smile.gif I've decided to start learning the clarinet and would appreciate some advice on finding a tutor. I've seen a few forum members from the East Midlands area and wonder if anyone can recommend a clarinet teacher in the Derby-Long Eaton area who will tutor adult beginners.

Many thanks

Suze

Welcome to the forums. smile.gif .
Sorry I'm not much help as far as teachers go though I'm originally from that area. I'm sure some others will come on & will give more constructive help. Have you tried local music shops - looking on their notice boards- as they will have ads from music teachers there.

Sorry, I'm from rather further down the midlands - I could recommend someone in Northampton, lol!

You might want to post on the woodwind forum?

Cheers for your replies and for taking time to answer. I was really hoping for a recommendation as had already searched the web and collected a few names, but wanted something a bit more concrete. Think I'll take a trip to the local music shop and see if I can get any more info!

That's often the best bet. Also, try the Yellow Pages for your area - lots of music teachers seem to advertise there.

Hey Suze,

jump onto the Foulds website, theres a list of them on there, are you based in Derby?

Hi,

Maybe you could ring the Head of Music at your local secondary school and ask if they have any recommendations?

Good luck with your search, good luck with playing the clarinet, and a very warm welcome to the Forums.

Hello suze!
Welcome to the forums!
Would help you.
But I can't. I'm not from here...

A few members wrote, they used google. Tell me: What is the ...........,(<- don't know, what it means in English....How do you tell this: "www.just an example.uk"?)of google? Is it "www.google.uk"? (Possibly you think I'm really silly. But I'm not. I just can't speak English........ IPB Image )

Hi Englischhorn smile.gif

Most people would use the word 'address'. It is also known as an URL (Uniform Resource Locator).

And yes, the address is http://www.google.co.uk if you're in the UK. Google is available in most countries, in their language: if you go to http://www.google.co.uk/language_tools?hl=en and scroll down there's a list smile.gif.

Thank you very much!

Don't you have "music-schools"*?
Where I am from you have one in nearly every second town...

*There you can learn nearly every instrument or you can get information where to find a teacher for special instruments. And it isn't so expensive like a private teacher.
