I have sent away for some past papers for the Theory diploma with LCM, it's called 'AMusLCM', just wondering if anyone has done one or anything similar? If so, it would be nice to hear how you got on.

The exam has two parts, harmony and 3part counterpoint I think. Also, there are some questions on two set works at the end. It looks really interesting, and I am very tempted to have a go, so any advice would be appreaciated. biggrin.gif

Hi joyjoy,

I've never taken a theory diploma but I'd be interested to see how you get on.

I know Trinity offer theory diplomas too; looking at their syllabus, it seems the AMusTCL might be a little more flexible than the AMusLCM. Depending on your tastes, it might suit you better. If you want a look, the syllabus is at:

PS ... Just looked at the Trinity website, didn't realise they had past papers online, very useful.

They are at the bottom of the page, to be honest they look like a grade 8 theory paper with a Music A level paper. I'm very interested now.

Would you do one then?
