Hello!
Can anyone tell me exactly what speed Grade 8 Piano Scales and Arpeggios should be? It's not in the syllabus, and, although I know it's in the Scale book, I have been working from a different book which does not give speed markings! My teacher suggests extremely fast speeds, but other musicians I know suggest slower speeds? Does anyone have the speed markings to hand?
Thankyou,
Mj

No, but if it's scales in thirds or sixths you can go considerably slower (minim=66? maybe). Can't remember off-hand and the book's all the way downstairs.

Accuracy is as important as speed. It's fine to go fast if you can manage it. Don't forget there is usually a tendency to go faster anyway when you are under pressure as in an exam situation.
