Hi

I plan to get singing lessons this year, and before i go i just wanted to get some tips on how to sing so i know a little and dont look that stupid, so any tips would be good smile.gif Thanks guys for reading smile.gif

Don't worry, no teacher will think you look stupid if you don't know anything. You want to learn to sing because you don't know how and that's why you're going to lessons. I know I prefer students to have little or no knowledge of the instruments I teach when they start lessons with me - then I don't have to undo mistakes in their playing. dry.gif

There would be no harm in finding about the basics of musical notation. I shall have to ask others to recommend a do-it-yourself text, though.

As a teacher of singing myself, I certainly wouldn't think you stupid if you didn't have any knowlege of how to sing. In fact, this would be easier from my point of view. Sometimes when you teach people who've had otehr teachers, or who have picked up tips from books and other people, you find that in fact they've actually picked up bad habits which need changing.

It's much easier starting with a blank canvas. I've certainly taught people before who've really had no singing experience.
