mad.gif It is only when you have problems with your connection,do you realise how little Providers actually care about their customers, and you usually have to phone an 0870 number.

Then once you get through...eventually...you are given the run around. They are " not allowed to transfer you" and " cannot phone you back ".Sometimes you are put through to an Indian call centre and so on.

During December I was offline for a few days. I did manage to use the geographical phone number

http://www.saynoto0870.com/ ...fab site

but then you get the " not allowed to transfer you " but if you are persistant they do put you through eventually.I've just had to phone 3 times.

After having no joy for 4 days in Dec and spoke with loads of people, I managed to get through to a lady...team leader...and I have her extension number if any further problems occur. She phoned me back, located the problem within 15 mins ( BT problem...nothing to do with modem and all the useless stuff they make you go through ) and promised to phone me the next day to check the connection was working. Marvellous service and she gave me a month's free use as a gesture of goodwill.

Last night I thought I would try it on to see if I could reduce my monthly tariff by saying I'm going to leave because of the recent problems with my connection, very bad customer service for those 4 days and I can get the tariff cheaper elsewhere and want my MAC Key/Code. Lo and behold I experienced the same disinterested service. I was fuming.

Just phoned up today ...it was too late last night....and have spoken to someone in customer care. I have now got £3 knocked off my tariff for 6 months and they are going to increase my bandwidth.I also have in my possession this guy's extension too.

Worth doing? Definitely. So I thought I would pass this on.

Does anyone here use Plusnet or Toucan?

I believe Toucan are not meant to be brilliant, but Plusnet is OK?

My current provider is Wanadon't or change the d to a p and you get the picture. What a ridiculous name.

Aaargh Semele - how I empathise with you....I had a similar run-in with said provider (over a different issue) last month. It didn't matter how many emails or phone calls I made to the company, I still couldn't get the response I was waiting for...in fact, I've probably compiled a new dictionary of slang in the process dry.gif ...anyway, I did succeed in getting the outcome I wanted, but still no verbal or e-communication confirming same...hey-ho, I'm sticking with them pro tem, mainly because I can't be bothered to give notice & look for something else.

Phone them up...try these numbers.. 01642 732794 or 732795/ 0113 222 9123 and demand to be put through to customer care and do the same as what I have done. I've just had an email confirming they are expanding my bandwidth. If they won't transfer you,try again.

I will PM you the two extension numbers.

YAP and I use plusnet and find them to be excellent. We had to phone them once when we were first setting up our connection: we got through quickly and the problem was fixed ten minutes later. Their online support is excellent too smile.gif. We've been with them since we got broadband and never had a problem since it was set up biggrin.gif. It's a reliable connection as we ran the forum recordings website from it for a while. My parents are with them too and haven't had any problems. (Honest I don't work for them wink.gif).

Thankyou for letting me know ( and thankyou to S for the earlier PM ). I think Plusnet needs checking out in greater detail and I think I will swop over once my 6 month's are up.I'm not in a 12 month contract.

All the best,
S
