Hello, I passed grade 8 piano like to years ago, but what does that mean? Sure, it's a qualification I can put on my resumes (and lets not forget the bragging rights) and sure, its a morale builder, but what does it really mean? Does it qualify as a license to teach? Some might say you teach when your ready to teach, but can the passing of grade 8 act as a credential for the start of a teaching career, like legitimately? In an analogous situation, acing the SATs means going to college, does acing grade 8 mean qualification (not ability cuz thats a whole other story) to teach? Help me out.

Much regards. smile.gif

You can actually teach whenever! Grade 8 means you can now go onto University standard material smile.gif

To quote the general regulations:

QUOTE

# Certificates will be awarded to successful candidates, and will specify the subject and the grade in which they have been examined.
# These certificates will not certify that the holders are qualified to teach, nor entitle them, apart from the Diploma examinations, to append any letters to their names.

You can teach if you want, but it is not a license to teach.I mean, you can teach the younger(grade1~4) if you have passed your grade 5 too!(not much like it).
Grade 8 is just a better/higher standard certificate. It is just a type of "graduation" for school and prepares you for the university,I think. But grade 8 confirms your standard, a higher standard, that's why you can teach! (somehow it is better than grade 5 student teaching grade 1~4 right?)
