Well, for my AS Music Performance (AQA Module 3) I'm doing at least ONE Corelli Trio Sonata (complete). 2 queries about interpretating them

1) I'm aware 3 of the 4 movements have at least 1 repeat in them, should they be played for an authentic as possible rendition?

2) As there are very few if any slurs in the parts, should some be added in for shape etc or should every note be played seperately (although this may cause trouble in faster movements)? (P.S. I'm aware that decoration etc in slower movements is viable)

Thanks smile.gif

Don't know about the repeats, but put slurs in if they fit etc. Slurs are allowed as long as it's not just to make it easier... it has to sound correct! But yes but them in..

Which one are you playing?
I'm playing a sonata from opus 5, and have three fast movements to contend with - sometimes I'm using slurs for repeated passages to keep interest going, but only sparingly. Since this is effectively repeating a few bars which I've just played tongued, I'm still having to do things the difficult way! I think some slurring is acceptable, as long as it isn't obvious that it's being done to make life easier... blink.gif

Yes good point - slurs are a common and effective way of adding variation to otherwise relentless semiquaver passages, as in the Vivaldi I'm studying and the Babel I did for Grade 8.
Baroque is often based on short themes which repeat (identical, inverted, or any other version), so you can change the articulation for variation. Ask me if you want an example but I'm sure you get me smile.gif

Op.2 No.1 in F (transposed from the original key of D which was for 2 violins) and Op.2 No.5 in B flat
