I was wondering if anybody can offer me some advice on the following. I am a musician from Australia who is considering travelling to the U.K. to further my studies. I have already attained a Bachelor of Performing Arts (music) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (aka WA Conservatorium) and expect to complete my honours this year. I've also received my LmusA (Aussie equivalent to LRSM).

I'm seeking advice on whether you think I'd have a chance to get into a post-grad course with the study I've already completed (eg. Post-grad Dip, Masters) and also which conservatoire is REALLY good. I've looked into doing study at RAM, RCM, RNCM, Guildhall, Trinity, Goldsmiths and Birmingham. So far, Birmingham has appealed to me equally as much as RCM... is there really a difference (besides the 8000.00 pound fees)?

I'd love to hear any feed-back. Cheers, Duncan.

If you do a Search on these Forums you will see this topic has come up repeatedly with several very good responses. Generally it depends on your instrument and/or if you have a tutor in mind and which one s/he is based at. London is very expensive to live in but has a wealth of culture that none of the others quite match. The Royal Conservatoires are the Senior colleges and the others follow. RAM is still the most senior of the lot. However many of the visiting tutors hold masterclasseson the circuit and you wont miss out on that opportunity to see hear or even work with the good and great.
