I have been told that I need to "open my throat" a bit more when playing recorder. ph34r.gif

Any suggestions on how to achieve this...? blink.gif

Think of yawning. Also think about having a really really hot potato in your mouth..............that works a treat too!

Various suggestions (none of them original):

Think of having an egg (or a cathedral tongue.gif ) in the back of your mouth.

Keep your back teeth apart.

Change your embouchure from 'oo' for the lower register to 'aww' for the middle and upper register (which is the effect you get from saying 'ah' with your mouth in a flute embouchure). This has been the most successful one for me.

How do you yawn and play at the same time? *confused* (kidding)
I was told by a singing teacher once to tilt my head slightly back... could that work in your case?

Same way as saying 'ah' and playing (see above). smile.gif
