Bit of a strange question - i dont know what on earths happening but here go's....
I tend to leave my piano on all the time as i just like to wander in and out of the spare room and have a play whenever i feel like it so its easier doing that than resetting the reverb and tone every time i wanna play.

However, iv noticed that whenever i havent played for a long time - ie a week - and i come to play it its gone all strange!
The sound quality has gone completely, its really heavy sounding and the touch is really light. Its impossible to play softly - the volume increases enormously!! I had to turn the volume down by as much as half the other day!
Even the soft pedal doesnt work as it normally does - it takes ALL touch response off so its all really really sort and blurry - much more than usual.

At first i thought it was me that was out of practice and my touch had all gone to pot but then i started messing with the buttons....when i altered the Touch buttons it went right again! And i could turn the volume back up to where it normally is without being deafened!

Daft question - but could it be something to do with temperature/humidity or something??
Im not a pianist by trade but i thought that this only affected acoustic pianos...
Any clues would be great!

It is really not advisable keeping any electronic appliance switched on 24/7 and think about the lekky bill! Switch it off every time you have finished using it and see if that makes a difference. It only takes a few secs to switch on and off.

If the same problem re-occurs phone up the place where you purchased it from ( is it under guarantee still? ) and see what they say.

Digital pianos are not affected by humidity as they basically consist of a circuit board.

Recommend Rolandus.com.

Contact the electronic experts, state problem clearly.

My Roland keyboard is about 15 years old, recently the pedal has been turning itself ON all by itself and sticking. So no notes are released!! Drives me mad. Rocking the keyboard seems to fix it, so it might be dust/short related? Gonna have to give it a major clean. I can't afford a new one.

I have a Roland HP3e digital piano which I bought new about two years ago. I used to play it quite a lot, but rather less frequently now, since I bought a Yamaha GB1 acoustic baby grand last July which I prefer.

However my 12 year old son (grade 2 AB) plays it quite a lot and usually leaves it switched on for days on end, sometimes weeks or even months. Apart from the energy consumption and a bit of a hum, it does not show any adverse effects for being left in a semi-permanent sate of readiness.
