I'd put it in the bank.. how sad is that? A function of getting older is that your tastes get more expensive.. Of course you earn more (probably) but somehow the things you want are still out of reach.. lol There must be a theorem associated with this..

Chaos, why is your cello teacher going to kill you for losing your glasses? I didn't think a cello needed glasses.

I know this is off topic but I'm -10 in both eyes and wear contact lenses. When you reach -10 in either eye, eye tests become free on the NHS and you get a voucher towards lenses for glasses.

Really? Well I'm free for the mo anyway as i'm under 16 but after july..eeep...though I rarely go to the opticians because I hate how they always give you the largest prescription avaliable, which you dont really need and just makes your eyes worse.
By the way, wouldnt it be more uncomfortable to wear contacts if you have a larger prescription? (Though Ive never tried...)

I tried contact lenses, and I HATE THEM!!! They made my eyes just so itchy! I had to keep putting water in my eyes to make them bearable. I much prefer glasses, I've got used to my face with them, it looks odd without!!

Same I've had mine since I was 7..though don't like the design anymore but can't change because i would have to change the prescription.

My eyes keep getting worse, so I get new frames each time I get a new prescription, so about once a year.

Is it true (question for anyone) that getting higher prescriptions each time don't actually help your eyesight? Because mine are now not worsening as much because I've not seen an optician/had mine tested for about 2 years...

It's also cos you're coming out the other side of puberty, same goes for me. Higher prescriptions while your eyes are getting worse anyway is just damage limitation, I think, cos if you got a correct prescription you'd need a new one in 3 months.

yes it is a bit silly, but also i have a fear of people coming too close to me unless ive known them for ages or in a relatoship with me and it doesnt help when my optician turns the light off comes really near with the torch thing breathes on me and keeps rubbing his hair on my forehead

I'm -6.75 in one eye and -6.5 in the other; due an eyetest actually, must get round to that. I think I'll keep my current frames (lightweight titanium, cost £130 and are still in impeccable condition

).
As with sbhoa, they're the first thing I put on the morning and the last thing I take off at night. Without them, my focal distance is in the region of 25cm.

But, largely, it's hereditory. My parents both need glasses, although my mum has good eye and one bad eye. When my dad was younger his eyesight started deteroirating so quickly that the doctors thought he was going blind. It settled out, though, fortunately.

I'd cut my overdraft in half! Or, put it in the wedding account/soon-to-be deposit-for-house account. I'm getting old too.
Your eyes get more negative as you grow. It's why most people stop deteriorating at 20 and why you don't always treat long-sighted kids. I'm -0.25 in both eyes and didn't splash out on glasses. The optician said I'd only need them to see road signs in the dark that were far away. I told her I'd cope.

Laser eye surgery is great! My sister had it and was thrilled to bits but apparently now that she's in her mid-fifties, she still needs glasses once more - for long-sightedness.
I will put my £1,000 in the bank and then spend it slowly on one-to-one music therapy for my son because I can no longer afford it now. But the council stated they won't pay or even subsidise even if a charity offers it to them at costs as individual therapy is not their policy. Not a word on whether he needs it.
However, if I win my case (at tribunal or otherwise) and the council has to pay, then, I prefer to save it as part of future violin cost even though my hubby here says I "should" spend it on laser eye surgery!
