We live in England and yes, yes, yes! We do celebrate CNY here! TODAY!
Actually, this is the first time we have done it since my parents died. As they both passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at this particular time of the year, it being the anniversary of their departure, it has been very hard in the past to rejoice as it's a very close and tight-knit clan - my family.
Hubby and daughter went down to London whilst I babysat. They thought the celebrations were absolutely fantastic! Maybe, next year, hubby should babysit for a change, I hope!
By the way, folks, just in case anyone might get any wrong ideas, CNY is NOT a religious festival. It has always been celebrated in atheistic/Communist countries like China, for example. So no matter your religion, race or creed, etc, well, if you are a BIG fan of spring time like me, JOIN IN!
CNY is the celebration of the FIRST DAY OF SPRING in the northern hemisphere according to the LUNAR calendar.
Kong Hei Fat Choy, Sun Lin Fai Lock + Sun Jong Lick Geen!
My Chinese is awful, CPPF, but I mean well so I hope you can figure those out!
