I had a lesson today, and mentioned my noisy breathing problem. I really had no faith in the idea that I didn't have to take a breath. But my teacher made me do it - just an open goldfish thing, with my lower ribcage open - and I suddenly sing without sounding like I'm making an obscene phone call. I'm so pleased with my little self!

Yay, well done! It's nice when you feel a real sense of achievement with your singing, isn't it. Today I'm going to work on keeping my connection, it seems to have disappeared over the last few days and I'm doing the strangled cat sound thing again!

Pretty roughly, Sarah, singing with the whole of you rather than just from the neck upwards.

Hiya,
I seem to have the problem of noisy breathing too. How can this be avoided as have major concert in 4 weeks time and will be singing a solo using microphones, If anyone has any advice, please please please pass it my way. Am getting slightly paranoid.
Thanks,
Claire
