Hi everyone

Just a quick reminder - the closing date for performers for the Egham concert is 4th February 2006. After that date I will only accept audience bookings.

And if you are in need of an accompanist, I need your entry details ASAP so that I can match you up with someone and you can send your music to them. If you don't do this, you won't be guaranteed an accompaniment on the day.

This year, I can accept Paypal payments as well as cheques - but I still need an application form either by post or electronically.

So hurry, time's running out!

Cheers

What's the response to the concert been like, katyjay? Do you still have performance slots left?

If anyone's still unsure about whether to go along or whether to take the plunge and perform, do take a look at the Libretto article on the forums concerts that were held last year.

http://www.abrsm.org/resources/libretto/fo...rtArticle06.pdf

The atmosphere is fantastic, it's wonderful to meet and get to know other forums members and performers of all levels always take away a real sense of achievement.

Good luck to all those performing.

Best wishes

I'd been going around thinking that I was just in a couple of items at this concert, but have suddenly realised that I'm doing six things blink.gif : solo (with accompaniment this time, courtesy of dacapo), two duets (one with Deborah and one with noisybassoon), two accompaniments (for willobie and pinkoi) and the string ensemble. Oh well, the more the merrier, as long as we can get our practices in on the day!

Do you want us to bring food/drink contributions for the socialising afterwards, Katyjay? tongue.gif
sbhoa
Will have do my socialising during the day.. my ticket is for the 17:27 train.. any later and it would be midnight before I got back to Manchester sad.gif .

Hi everyone

To answer the queries:

We've had a good response again this year, and there are a few slots left.

Hopefully we can fit everyone in who wants to take part, in as many ways as they want - but this is best achieved if people are careful with their 5-minute limit. I don't want to have to sit there with a gong and stopwatch ohmy.gif . Nor do I want Sbhoa to miss her train wink.gif

Food and drink contributions would, as always, be very welcome smile.gif

If you're doing a duet or trio or similar, please check your partner/s have signed up - otherwise your style will be seriously cramped!

At the moment I think I've matched all soloists up with an accompanist if they need one - if you know different, please let me know ASAP. And if you can offer an/another accompaniment, please let me know that too.

See you on the 18th, folks.

Cheers

That really made me giggle, Katyjay - the idea of you sitting with a gong and stopwatch! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I hope my duet partners have signed up!!
Deborah
Gong and stopwatch? Does that mean I have to play for 60 seconds without hesitation, repetition or deviation?

Rest assured Jo and Amber, my form went in weeks ago.

No, Deborah. With the obvious exception of repeats and da capo/dal segno signs you have to play the whole of the work without hesitation or deviation or, indeed, repetition......for a time not to exceed 5 minutes!

You now have exactly one week left to decide to perform at Egham and send your form in, if you haven't already done so.

Particularly if your solo needs accompanying, now is the time to tell me

Please make sure that you send your music to your accompanist as soon as possible otherwise you will end up playing unaccompanied on the day.

And we've all got three weeks to practise in, folks ohmy.gif

I second that! Performing music is part of the acting profession. If you can keep a performance going and look convincing there's a strong chance that your audience will enjoy what you do.

I commend to all performers the song from "The King and I" that starts "Whenever I feel afraid, I hold my head erect, and whistle a happy tune, so no-one will suspect I'm afraid!" Perhaps not the whistling bit...

Katyjay, I'd like to come and join the audience please. How would you like me to pay for my ticket? And can you give me a rough idea of start and finish times please. smile.gif
katyjay
Hi Nannyjay

The concert will start at 2pm, and, depending on how many more people sign up, should probably finish around 5, after which we have the premises to socialise until 6pm.

You can either pay me on the door, or (if you could, I'd prefer it) print off a registration form from here, write "Audience Only" on it and send it with a cheque to the address on the website.

Look forward to meeting you on the day.

Cheers
