These are letters that you can put after your name (your diploma qualifications):

Hi Lucie

ATCL is an Associateship diploma from Trinity College London. LTCL is the next diploma up, a Licentiate and FTCL the highest with Trinity - a Fellowship.

The Associated Board diplomas are DipABRSM, LRSM and FRSM.

DipABRSM and ATCL require a standard of playing comparable with the performance part of the first year of a music degree. LRSM and LTCL require a standard of playing comparable with the performance part of the third year of a music degree. The fellowship diplomas need one to be at a standard as of the first year of a postgraduate music course.

Then there are diplomas offered by other organisations with their own letters.....

Hope this helps a bit. And congratulations on the Trumpet result.

Cheers

I'm not really sure...since I'm takin GCSEs this year, and then as it all seems to get more stressful after that...I don't think I'll have the time and effort to put into doind a diploma. Also, I've just changed teachers (my last teacher moved to live by the seaside sad.gif ) so I'm not really settled with the new teacher yet...and I dont want to throw myself into anything so big when I'm not ready smile.gif...so I'm looking at the possibility of it but dont really know smile.gif

thanks for all the answers everyone smile.gif

Lucie,

There's tons of time to take a diploma - no need to rush into it straight after grade 8. Whatever you choose to do, hope that you keep up some music making through GCSEs and beyond - it's a good stress outlet!
