Hey everyone,
I just wanted to know which piece you'll think is a better option for LTCL.
Would you consider Mozart Sonata in A min K310 or would you rather play Beethoven's Tempest Sonata, Op. 31 no 2. I know, this might sound silly, but i just wanna know.
Furthermore, if there's anyone who HAS performed Tempest Sonata for any of the Diplomas, please let me know about some of your experiences.
Thanks a million everybody,
Love,
Tanmoy.

The expression 'horses for courses' springs to mind: ignoring for one moment how the pieces relate to the rest of your programme, either is acceptable. The question, I guess, is which is better: your Beethoven technique, or your Mozart technique? smile.gif.

I'd say the Mozart actually. The Tempest I believe is more often recorded than the Mozart

Yes, I would recommend the tempest sonata.
It contains and expression, which if appears during your recital,
will be benificial.

It is an axiom that everybody who plays Mozart thinks that everybody else plays him badly.

Play him in an exam and you risk the wrath of an examiner with views directly opposed to yours.

For exam purposes, Beethoven is safer.

Just don't play the 'Moonlight', unless you have a diploma death wish laugh.gif

Play some Tippett instead.. no-one _really_ understands the sonatas so you're on safe ground wink.gif
