I've just realised how awkward a turn on a 4th line D going D E D C# D E is. Is there any way to make the turn "clean"? e.g. bar 48 in Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto 2nd movement

RH little finger on the Db key should work quite smoothly....

Or, you could play an open C# smile.gif

I just use open fingering, and it seems to work ok for me

I find it's a bit mushy that way...not that I play flute that often...

I can't find the music right now, but I would guess that splurts would probably help as they do in scales.

I've been sitting here trying to play turns quietly laugh.gif

I can't find the music, so assuming I'm playing the right stuff for the bit in question (is it the section where there are turns on consecutive notes rising up the scale???) but I suspect, after sitting here experiementing, that the mushiness is probably less to do with the fingering itself (there's not that much difference with an open C# especially when played quickly) but more to do with the cleanness or not of one's technique. I think practising splurts or similar to get the fingering really smooth would probably solve the problem.

For the C#, between the two D's, leave your three right-hand fingers on and just lift up the left-hand fingers.

The normal way works for me smile.gif Depends on your fingers and accuracy tongue.gif
