If you're talking about the two lower octaves, finger E and trill with the RH first finger. For the top octave you can either finger E and trill LH thumb, or finger A plus the second trill key, and trill with LH2.

The trill keys are most often used when trilling from C or C# - D, but are also used for one or two other trills (see above), and for some 3rd octave notes like top Bb and top B.

Hi Ben,

Finger C, and then trill with one of the trill keys. Try them both out to see which is best in tune - it varies a bit from flute to flute. It's most likely to b the second trill key.

generally speaking, for the middle C-D (third space C), you use the first trill key, and the second trill key for the same trill an octave higher

I'm sure I've seen you say you play trombone and sax...

There is a trombone living in my house but I dont play it.
