Hey just wanna see what other people are taking biggrin.gif
Lisa87
I couldn't vote as I am playing one of the alternative pieces from the C list but I chose:

List A: Allegro.

List B: Vals Poetico No.5.

List C: Lavender's Kind of Blue.

I am due to take it this term so I'm very nervous at the moment! unsure.gif

*squeals* Oh wow, how sophisticated is this poll???? laugh.gif *gets excited*

Um. Yeah. I do:

A: Corant
B: Vals Poetico
C: Prayer of the Matador

I did Allegro for a while, then decided that there was NO WAY I can play that in time and correctly in the exam, when I get enormously nervous in any case. So Corant it is. It's a lovely piece - I'm just slightly worried about the ornaments, and whether I'd be able to get them in the tense atmosphere of the exam.

After all the exam stuff is over I might go and learn Einsamer Wanderer from list B, just for fun. That piece sounds wonderful on the AB CD.

My exam is this term too, Lisa. I'm just hoping that I won't get landed with the really early ones in late February...

I didn't think I'd be able to play Allegro in time either but I love a challenge so I thought I'd go for it! I can play along with the metronome now but that's after practising it til I was blue in the face! laugh.gif I thought Corant was a nice piece but I wasn't overly keen on playing all those ornaments.

I really hope I don't have an early exam date either - the later the better! biggrin.gif

By the way, what pieces are you playing PianoPlayerScottie1901?

Exactly the same here! biggrin.gif
Actually , me too i'm extremely worried about the ornaments in corant sad.gif
i do them well while practicing , but i'm not sure i'll be able to do them during the exam...
On the other hand, I LOVE "prayer of the matador", it remindes me with the marvellous spanish and flamenco style.....

Good luck with the Allegro... I'll just blame my incompetence with it on the fact that my hands are too small. wink.gif

I find it hard to keep the left hand steady while playing about 6 notes rapidly in the right hand... wacko.gif Let's just hope that I'll pull it off wonderfully in the exam. biggrin.gif

Prayer of the Matador - yes, it's lovely. Surprisingly, I didn't like that one at all in the beginning but the more I play it the more it grew on me.

Woo shiny poll just for grade 6!

A: Allegro - can't stand trills but am ok with passage work!

B: Einsamer Wanderer - seems to have more musical substance than Vals Poetico

C: Prayer of the Matador - couldn't get into either of the others

Why is it that many people don't like to pick Allegro? huh.gif

When I did my exam last year it was my favourite piece...

I don't know, I love it! smile.gif It was quite daunting when I first starting learning it but as I said before, I like a challenge so I didn't mind working hard to get it right. I think the reason why a lot of people haven't picked it is because when you have a fast piece like that it can easily go wrong due to the speed. Initially I was worried about this too but I decided to just go for it as I wasn't really keen on the other A pieces.

It's not that I don't like Allegro - I did choose it in the beginning, after all - but there was no way I could play it without making a mistake in the exam. Maybe I was just giving up before I even begun, but I just didn't want to take the risk. I do still play it, just not for the exam. And the corant has grown on me now! biggrin.gif

I did the choices with one of my students last night and he chose

Bach Solo per il cembalo
Chopin prelude
Prayer of the Matador

He really struggled to pick one from the A list, but pretty much wanted to do all 6 of the B list. Anyone else found this?
