Hey guys,

When you do a clarinet exam, can you play one piece on say a Bb clarinet and then another on an A? Or do you have to do all the exam on the same instrument?

No, depending what they're written for. The Schumann at grade 5, Mozart at grade 6 and 8, maybe others actually specify A, though Bb would be acceptable, as long as the accompaniment matched. tongue.gif

I actually did my whole grade 8 on the Bb, but every university exam has used both.

EDIT: double checking the syllabus, it states this at the top of page 48.

Actually, there's only ever 1 list with an A clarinet piece from 5-8, and only 1 piece per list with exception to Grade 8 when there's 2 in List A
