Full Version: Good Teacher In The Netherlands?
Forums > ABRSM > Students
Rene
Hi it´s René, the Netherlands this is my first post.

What a great forum! I haven´t been to the site for a long time and now finally noticed
a true FORUM. I love it!

I just stumbled upon this forum. I am 34 years and am a grade 7 piano student. I am from the Netherlands and desperately looking for a good teacher here. It was about 3 years ago since took my last Grade 7 exam which was 4 years ago (2002). After that our first daugter was born.

Time flew by and I was neglecting my piano playing... It was a great time beeing with my wife and my daugter, just 6 months ago our second daugter Sari was born. Children are the most precious gift I could ever imaged to find..
It just took up all of my time and I believe it was a great time. Now I want to pick up the pieces and follow the path (if possible) to continue my piano study up to grade 8 and hopefully even further.

My previous piano teacher is not teaching anymore, she´s over 70 years old.. And she was the only one
I know in the area. Even in the Netherlands..

Now I am desperately looking someone who can teach me piano and help me to pass for my Grade 8 and beyond..

If anyone have a suggestion or idea please let me know....

I have to go now, get back to practise . BFN

nope, sorry - i'm in england!
have you tried asking around any music shops nearby? a lot of them near where i live have lists of instrumental teachers around the area - i think this is quite common in england so there might be a chance in your country too!
best of luck finding a teacher!

Hi,

The easiest way to find a piano-teacher nearby is to use the "gouden gids" (yellow pages) or the pink area of the phone book. As Crazy Cow said, asking in a music shop is also a good option or if you are near a conservatoire (sp?) you can ask there . The NTB (Nederlandse toonkunstenaarsbond) has a database to find teacher on their website: Here, but I don't know how big this databse is, and if it's up-to-date. You can also try google, but it is very hard to find a teacher that way.

Good luck in finding a teacher!

Rene,

I am 44 and working on my Grade 6 (practical exam this Spring!). I have an existing great piano teacher in Amsterdam who works as a professional pianist and also gives lessons; he is an extremely talented pianist and a gifted teacher who is very good working with adults and could take you as far as you want to go in piano. I am his first student who wanted to do ABRSM. We have been adding the exam pieces to the practice repertoire and are having fun exploring the syllabus together. I also receive coaching from an experienced ABRSM teacher in Amstelveen (who got me through the theory and is now working with me on the oral, sight reading, etc.). She also gives piano lessons through Grade 8 and Performing Diplomas. I got her name from the ABRSM Netherlands Coordinator who is listed on this site (Karin Hollreiser in Den Haag 070-355-4979). Why don't you contact her to see if she can recommend someone close to where you live. Let me know if you want the contact information for my teacher and coach here in the Amsterdam area.

Wish you the best of luck!
