I wondered how many of us 'adult learners' were going to the Leicester concert? And whether we could coordinate some kind of adult learner ensemble for the day? Not sure what, so ideas very welcome!

If the last all-forums concert was anything to go by, the vast majority of the participants were adult learners (not many of the youngsters came in the end).
So the big ensembles and choir will be planned with that fact in mind. That doesn't preclude other people, it just makes sure we can accommodate everyone.
Of course, people who want to do duets and trios etc. are encouraged to set them up, but three big group activities is all we're likely to manage in a day.
Cheers

(ps - the sooner everyone gets their forms in, the better we can plan the big works to fit the participants!)

I'm hoping to go. I suppose technically I'm not an adult learner in the true sense of the word (I teach woodwind) but as a musician you are learning all the time! There was someone (forget who) who once said 'A lesson where the teacher hasn't learnt anything from his(her) pupil isn't a very good lesson'. How true....

Bringing it with me next weekend.
Hope that's ok?

Katyjay, could I send you my form with an 'either or' kind of choice of rep and instrument? I've got it narrowed down to a choice of two songs, and a choice of either a short guitar piece or a short cello piece. Just can't make up my mind which is going to sound respectable by April!
Also do you know yet how much time each of us will have?

I think it's a maximum of 3 minutes.

Hi there
Sbhoa - that's fine to bring your form with you next weekend.
Meerkat, yes, that's fine. Just remember, if you need an accompaniment, the more notice the better! I will be pretty strict about the 3-minute limit, and if we look likely to over-run will do priorities for this concert as I have for other concerts:
First solo instrument
First ensemble grouping
Second or subsequent solo
Second or subsequent ensemble
And within each of these categories
Concert newbies
Prior attendance but new instrument
Old hands
Cheers

Sorry to be a pain with my questions, but is that 3 minutes per person, or 3 minutes per solo - e.g. if I did a piece of singing, and a cello piece, would that be two 3 minute slots, or one 3 minute slot?

3 minutes per instrument or ensemble.
So, for example, if you had two very short songs those would be OK as one three-minute unit.
