I neeeeeed a practice plan. I've had many of my own, but because I wrote them, I can decide when I can't be bothered. BUT If someone else writes one, then I don't have a say in the matter and I have to do it. (weird logic) So, would anyone be willing to give me timings of things, it wouldn't take long since I know the exercises I should be doing, but I tend to get bored quickly.

So, my plan should be an hour long ( I can repeat it if need be later in the day), it should have time for scales, tonguing exercises, tone exercises ( and can someone tell me what I should do for those?) and work on two pieces.

Would anyone be willing to help/share a plan they've aready got? I've looked at that practice website, but found it useful for other reasons.

I think it shouldn't be about time, otherwise you end up watching the clock. Instead have little aims for each session like being able to play a certain scale or bars 10-15 in a piece. smile.gif

Actually now you mention it, that's probably why I get bored. smile.gif But if I don't have sepcifics, I won't do technical stuff, since I'll just play coz I like playing!

Well, say to yourself that you have to be able to do X before you play a piece. smile.gif

Yeah I do that now. But if I sound horrible that day, then I just give in, even though these exercises are supposed to make me sound less horrible!

I like the sound of Irish Looney's.

In the book "the innergame of music" by Barry Green and W. Thimothy Gallway a systems is used with setting goals. Basicly it comes down to setting your long term goals (i.e. what you want to achive in the next 5-10 years) and use them to set your goals for this year, this month, this week and next week. You can use the list of this weeks goals to set your goals for the day and when you are done practising you can set your goals for tomorrow (or any other day). I like this system very much becaus when I'm going to practice I know precise what I should be doing. I hope this is of any help to you smile.gif

(P.S. I highly recommend the book too, it is great!)
