My exam date came through today and it just happens to be the week I'm away in Italy. I've never been more upset.
I blame my girlfriend - she wanted to go on holiday, I wanted to stay at home and do exams!
I take it there is no way to move it, or swap it with someone or rebook it. This is my first exam so I'm not sure how long you have to wait if you book it again.
I don't even know if I've lost my money.. although, that's the least of my worries.
I'll I can do is swear a lot!

Did you enter yourself?
Ring the Board (or ask your teacher to), they will help if they are able. Another time remember that you can put a last available date if you know your holiday dates.
My husband has been a little impatient waiting for my exam date as he wanted to take a few days away in March but he is just having to put up with it.

My teacher put in the request, then my girlfriend wanted to go away and booked the flights. I'm thinking about dumping her.
My teacher should be ringing the board at some point this week. I wouldn't mind doing it myself actually, any idea of the number? A quick google and search on this site and I couldn't see it.

Only the applicant - in this case, you teacher - can deal with the board directly. In principle, it should be able to be changed. Before she phones, let her know if there's another examination centre within reasonable distance of you - it can help if they can't change the week at the one you normally use.

You will need the applicant number when you phone... ask your teacher, the phone number is on the sheet with appointment on.

In general the board will only communicate with the person who put in the exam entries, which is presumably your teacher. If you ring them they'll simply tell you to get your teacher to contact them. They probably will be accommodating about changing the date so long as they're contacted early enough and you're willing to be flexible about moving to other nearby centres if they offer this.

Thanks all, I feel more secure now! My girlfriend gets off lightly this time..
My teacher text me the exam date this morning, so presumably he received the letter today.
I'll give him a call and ask him if he wouldn'd mind phoning the board. I honestly don't care where the exam is, so driving to it won't be a problem, unless my teacher needs to attend with me and doesn't fancy a drive from London to Birmingham?

There is certainly no requirement for your teacher to go to the exam with you. They may want to or they may not: I suspect if it's travelling from London to Birmingham they might give it a miss

. There are usually some reasonably nearby centres free so you probably won't have to travel too far, you may even get another appointment at the same centre
