Just listened to (and enjoyed) your amazing grace performance on the forum concert. I wondered when you'd done it? Was it a piece you did for exam, or performance?

I originally "did" Amazing Grace as the unaccompanied song for my Grade 5 exam in December 03.

Shortly after that I was asked to do it at a funeral at which I didn't really feel confident with the organist, so I sang it unaccompanied again. After which, it's done another couple of funerals as word gets round

I got the gadgetry organised to make a digital recording of something to add to the website at the end of October this year. I recorded Amazing Grace as a test file to see if the process worked - and as you can see it did! It was literally the first thing that came into my head! And I sent it to YAP on a whim, to include on the site.

I also submitted another recording, and asked YAP to put an accompaniment on it, but unfortunately he didn't have time to do so .

I am using a cheap Argos tape recorder and then transferring to a digital file using Audacity software and a jack-lead. That's why there's so much noise on the recording. One of these days I'll save up for a MP3 recorder, and the result will be better in quality.

I still have the recording and the accompaniment; I'm just useless at remembering to sit down at the piano and play along to it . Email me once a week until further notice . Seriously, do....

This is so frustrating. I was able to access the recordings one time only, oh about six months or so ago. But since then I can't get it to work. Grrrr!

No worry - I've just listened to the voice line again, and decided I don't like the recording. And as I have no voice at the moment, I can't re-record it just now . I'll send a new one when my voice comes back.

Don't like the recording, or don't like the way you sound ? Cause I think you sound lovely.

Thanks again Meerkat. I meant I don't like the recording of the other work - it 's not as balanced as I'd like. And I was having trouble with the tape recorder's in and out speeds, so it's about a quarter of a tone sharp, so I'll re-do it before YAP tries to put an accompaniment on it.
