An article in The Times today discusses the benefits of harp music to patients in hospitals -
Open harp surgery.
This makes me wonder whether it really has a measurable effect and whether other instrumental music would help and whether any effect would also be found from recorded music.
Fascinating. I have always thought there is something magical about the harp.
It's interesting how the British Heart Foundation has decided to ignore this research, claiming that it is best to stick only with conventional medicine. The link between music and healing has been documented throughout history, proved by a number of studies and confirmed by patient testimonials... but is still yet to be taken seriously by the medical establishment. Perhaps BHF should advocate some combination of conventional drugs and music, as a compromise, and see if the differences are any more pronounced.
I think I'll go and listen to some harp music now...
