I have had the same flute for 4 years it is second hand and was used by the previous girl up to grade 5 estimated it is about 12 years old, it had to be fixed when it was given to me, it is a good flute but i was wondering is it better to get a new flute for higher grades? My flute also seems alot heavy then others people flutes. If it is a good idea to get a new flute what grade should i maybe purchase it for?. I am a dedicated flute player and i have no intention and never will give up.
Thanks smile.gif

I have a Boosey and Hawkes
The Old Lady
Jess, I had the same thing 2 years ago, had an old B&H Emporer, which was 25 years old. Many people here are very advanced and have very expensive flutes. I went to the music shop and basically tried many flutes in a little room untill I found what I liked. The one which was about £1,400 was no where near as good as the one I bought for around £600. I have a Yamaha. Some people don't like these, but I love mine. So try before you buy and go with an open mind.
