I can help you a bit with folk rock. The main names to look out for are Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention. Both bands are still going strong despite many changes of line up over the years. They sing traditional folk songs with a rock accompaniment. Steeleye'e current line-up is vocals (the inimitable Maddy Prior), fiddle, lead guitar and bass guitar. Fairport run the Cropredy festival in August where you can hear this sort of material.
Both bands have websites, and Steeleye can be reached via Park Records www.parkrecords.com, where there are some video and audio clips. Fairport's website is www.fairportconvention.co.uk.
Hope this helps.
