hi everyone -
does anyone know of any websites where I could find the lyrics and notation for some warm up songs to teach a group of teens and seniors? I'm talking about the camp-fire type songs, really simple, even silly! I can find loads of sites with the words but no tunes!
thanks a mil!

I'm not sure if this is really what you're after, but the Sing for Pleasure Junior Song Books contain SOME campfire-type songs (with notation).

Things like 'A Young Austrian' with ALL the silly, cumulative actions might go down OK!

Sorry not to be of more help.

The RSCM 'Voice for Life' books have some good warm-ups too, but they're not on the website, as far as I know.

Cyrilla, I love 'The Young Austrian'. No 3 son learnt it at school a few years ago, and we did it in our entertainment evening on our families camp holiday, with lots of costumed characters. biggrin.gif

I conduct one of the college choirs here and the other day I got them to divide into four groups and stand at the corners of the room (which was square). We than sang rounds, such as "hot cross buns", "whose pigs are these?", "london's burning" etc.

And then I told the guy that was near the lightswitches to turn one of the lights off every time a new group came in, and we ended up singing in the dark but still kept it together! It was great fun!

And I agree, "A Young Austrian" is a HILARIOUS song!!!

My children's choir actually got through to the finals of Music for Youth singing 'A Young Austrian' and performed it with great gusto and (naturally!) perfectly synchronised actions at the Royal Festival Hall in 2002! I have a video of them performing it at the Bromley Schools' Prom the same year - it brought the house down!!!

Not as good, but still quite fun, is 'Lord Longleat' (also in SfP Junior Song Books) - also cumulative actions.

Love the rounds idea, cheeble - got to have a room with enough lightswitches, though!
