I have to do this poetry speaking and listening presentation for English and I'm doing a Powerpoint. So far its all done but looks really boring, and I have no idea how to make it more interesting/add colours so that it looks less cheesy... ph34r.gif laugh.gif
So far I have a dark blue back ground with quite dark red one-colour gradient, light orange writing and random pictures...it looks really dull..can anyone help?

Animations? Motion? You know when text boxes fly in or like'dissolve'
Maybe some GIF animations from websites even

I've done that already...and I don't really want it too cheerful seeing as the 'subject' of poetry is apartheid and anti semitism ph34r.gif sad.gif
I've added a border but the wordart still looks a bit tacky...and I dont really know what to do with it...

Sometimes I just use normal text and make it big rather than wordart as it can be tacky yea

I dunno... maybe you're just being picky. It's probably suitable how it is? Have a play around with the program, see what you find

CPPF, if lots of people are doing powerpoint, and especially because the subject is English, I would suggest that you don't use it. It tends to be the case that whats on the powerpoint is just what you are saying, but this detracts attention from the speaker and unfortunately since a speech cannot be perfect, but writing can, it will make you look worse!

Instead, you could have key quotes written on a flip-chart while you explain them, or just spend the time you are using on making a powerpoint to construct a REALLY good speech smile.gif

Good luck smile.gif

Well I was just thinking, are the colours and font appropriate for the poetry theme.

For my english poetry I have to do a 1200 word essay comparing 2 poems sad.gif Have you set a theme for your powerpoint, everytime i do i prefer how it looks compared to solid colours everywhere

We're doing it in a group of three but the other two are (no offence to them) REALLY bad at doing this sort of thing so I said I'd do it. Its one of our final s+l tasks so I want to make it a good one, and I think for the poems that we're doing visul stuff would be quite good. I'm not very confident/talkative anyway so a speech probably wouldn't be a good idea ph34r.gif

add music...ok, so it's confusing to read and hear at the same time, but who cares?! least it sounds good...tongue.gif
