Having sorted out the Recorder Ensemble as far as I can, my thoughts are now turning to the Grand Finale Ensemble and the instrumentation of the piece I've chosen (clue: Monty Python tongue.gif ).

I need to know whether any of the flute players who are coming could play the piccolo (and has one to bring). It's not a problem if no-one has, because it can be played on sopranino recorder, but piccolo might be better from the point of view of balance.

I also need to know if any more bassoonists or cello players are intending to take part. From the list I've been given of those who have applied so far, I only have fluteandbassoon as a bassoonist and meerkat on the cello - and I definitely need more than one on each of the two bass lines!

If anyone has a cello to lend I'll happily play cello - but I don't suppose spare cellos are easily found.

Jo, I can bring a particularly piercing sopranino if that's any help.

Yikes!! *covers ears* laugh.gif laugh.gif

I'm rewriting one of the parts in alto clef for the viola contingent, and transposing another for the Bb instruments - and I'll do a percussion part too, for those who have asked to do that. smile.gif

As an unashamed Monty Python fan, I think I've got it! Let's just hope that at the end of the performance a giant foot won't suddenly come down from the sky and land on our heads laugh.gif (Python fans will understand!)

Slightly off topic, I'm wondering what the choir perfomance will consist of, and will my average singing voice get round it? laugh.gif

Ah, would love to come and play piccolo but the date is awful. 22nd of April is the annual open day for prospective organ and choir scholars at Oxford. Shame, because lixandreth and I wanted to meet some of you.
Hope all goes well though,

Did someone mention Monty Python?? laugh.gif

I have a piccolo, but it's best described as 'Chinese junk'. I bought it when I was off to University and it was all I could afford. The part would sound far better on my sopranino recorder, which is not quite as piercing as katyjay's. wink.gif

Well, unless you get any piccolo players applying, then yes. smile.gif

I read that as "a particularly piercing soprano" and thought "but katyjay, you have a lovely voice!"

The first thing AP said when she saw the picture, not having read the thread, was 'Why are you squishing sarah-flute?' biggrin.gif.

laugh.gif tell AP thanks for defending me from the squashyfoot! smile.gif
