I kind of agree with what Eddie Jordan said during the race. Vettel felt he had to find a way past Webber so he could try to reassert himself as the main Red Bull championship contender. Obviously it didn't pay off in the end, but with Webber winning the previous two races, he had to do something about it.

Red Bull certainly seem to favour Vettel who was, imo, in the wrong. No matter what the circumstances he should not have risked taking his team-mate out and from where I was sitting Webber had the racing line and didn't budge from it.
Personally I wouldn't mind helping Mark Webber get his rubber up to racing temperature any time he likes...

Anyone else think that Webber is being treated really shabbily by his team?...

How disappointing for the lovely Felipe Massa, especially considering the horrendous accident he had this time last year. This was the first time since his return that I've seen him drive like his old self.
Sadly team orders, technically "banned" or not, are part of F1 and always have been. That doesn't make it right and this was lousy viewing. I'd have like to have seen a proper scrap and Alonso may well have made it past eventually.
Ferrari should be ashamed of themselves.

And always will be. Trying to ban team orders was a stupid move anyway. Disappointing for Massa yes, but it IS a team.

It goes against the spirit of racing for its own sake. It might be a romantic view, but I think this incident is terribly sad.

B****y Schumacher. There is alot of difference between proper, exciting racing and moves that are just darned right disgraceful ... I tried to make allowances and remember some of the great run-ins with Senna/Prost for example but although they got in some terrific scraps and would happily take each other off if necessary, they didn't try to kill each other...

I don't really follow Formula 1 these days, but I did watch it quite avidly back then. Whether it's just nostalgia, I don't know, but the competitions did seem more exciting back then, the top-spots changing hands more frequently, the races closer.
Or was it Prost, James Hunt, Nigel Mansel and the emergence of Damon Hill that kept me on the edge of my seat?

The cynic in me said it was a nice long free advert for a DVD Clarkson has coming out.
Its quite interesting to make comparisons between Senna and The Cheat - both have driven recklessly to take other people deliberately out of races. The only difference is The Cheat (despite being disqualified from one year) generally had the benefit of Ferrari International Assistance and team mates (Irvine, Barichello, Massa) who were ordered to compromise their own chances to help him out.

Or if Jenson had found some grip, or Mark hadn't ditched it or the boy wonder's engine hadn't let go. I must say I was hugely entertained by the enormous show of schadenfruede up and down the pit lane when that happened.

I'm sure he is "the people's choice". I reckon he ought to be able to do it but it's going to be tough. Alonso is looking frighteningly as though the force is with him.
