Hiya Guys, hope one of you can assist!

I am stuck on one of the q's in the Music Theory in Practice Book Grade 3. Namely Exercise 7, (cool.gif Page 8

You have to name the key of 4 bars of music, re write them out using key sig instead of accidentals...I can do all the other ones in this Exercise but I am stuck on this line!

It has FGD Sharps...I cant think of any major or Minor key it could be...not the obvious E Major as the C's in the line are not Sharpened....

I know its probably something really obvious, but please help if you can!

I think the question you are refering to is the Gavotte by J.S Bach, Partita No 3 for unacc. violin - question 7b.

If so, then there are the sharpened G F and D's in the line given, but although there aren't any C's present at all, a C# can still be in the key signature.

So select F# C# G#and D# for the key is E major.

(Question 7f is similar with one of the notes in the key signature not used in the line given.)

Ohhh thanks alot for that - really helped me.

Sorry my post didnt show very clearly....for some reason it changed my 7b to a Smiley!

I am having the same issue with Page 24, Exercise 26 a.

A and E are flattened yet, B is in the line of music yet not flattened....so it cant be F, Bb or Eb Major....please advise!!!!

Thanks again - being a real help - have worked thru the rest of the exercises fine, just the odd one that I cant figure out!

Thanks again!!
