I am playing this for my AS recital on 26th April, and I just can't seem to get the runs, especially the last page, and the scalic run F, G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, F. I have been trying a lot of things, including scales in the 3rd octave (my fingers panic in the 3rd octave), and changing the rhythms and things...but no success sad.gif
Any tips?

Have you tried the 'splurts' technique Sarah-flute has suggested? It works very well for runs. Play the notes in pairs, starting the second pair with the second note of the first pair: AB,BC,CD etc. Then in threes: ABC, BCD, CDE etc. Then in fours and fives.

I've never managed to get my fingers around the Valse, so I admire you. biggrin.gif

Hm dry.gif Haven't exactly got it at recital standard.

I have tried splurting...will have to try again I suppose!

I had it it mind to suggest that when this notification landed in my inbox *grin*

Be patient with the splurts, it works best if you take it slow - get the pairs really solid before you try 3s, for example - and remember you can repeat each pair as many times as necessary to get it confident.

It really does work, it takes time and can get boring when you have a lot to do... but it really helps both speed and confidence.

I haven't got the Godard in front of me, but if there are any changes of articulation in that run make sure you incorporate them into the 'splurts'. That way the articulation gets learned along with the notes.

No, generally, the articulation doesn't change on the runs smile.gif

I had the same problem - I found that by do it in different articulations/ rythems and just doing it repetitively slowly worked

I'm playing the Valse just now and practicing the runs with different articulations and rythms definitlely helps . You could also play them backwards to ensure that you really get your fingers round the upper octave runs . Be creative when you're practicing and just play around with different articulations etc . in the runs until they are perfect biggrin.gif

I've heard you play the Valse and it sounds great to me biggrin.gif
