Has anyone else heard about the latest controvesy about the ad promoting Australia not being able to be shown in England due to censorship issues. One word is all that is causing it.

I don't get why that phrase is there in the first place? It doesn't really make sense. It's like a t-shirt in France which says in English "I do what I want" which you wouldn't really put on a t-shirt here.

Yes Kayla, I saw a report of this on the bbc website.
I remember there was an ad for a phone a few years ago, plastered all over the high street, which read ...
"stay on the b##### phone"
I think it was promoting a new tariff or something where long calls did not necessarily cost you more, and was a variation of what most parents of teenagers have probably said at some time or other ...
"get off the ###### phone" ! so kind of amusing.
But it was displayed all over the place and often at a low level where quite young children could read it. There were a lot of complaints from the general public and the ad was withdrawn by the ad standards authority.
So it may be that they're being a bit more cautious this time.

What I don't see is why they have banned it when it is such a common phrase in Australia and people who visit Australia would hear it.

Im rather puzzled as well as to why it has been banned. The ad is a sterotype. Its just a word that we are renound for using.

I just watched that advert and then saw it again cause it was fab! I reckon they've censored it to stop the whole of England dropping tools and leaving for Australia....cause it looks a darn sight better than dreary old England!
