Sounds great, Lisa87! Bet you're relieved it's over.
Hope the wait is not too long - 10 days you reckon?
Mine came in 9 this time.

Yes I am relieved it's over! It feels weird not having to practise but it won't be long before I start my next grade so I should make the most of my time off from exam stuff! biggrin.gif

Also just wanted to say thank you for the help you gave me regarding the periods/composers, it really helped me a lot & I wouldn't have been able to answer that question if it wasn't for you!

I reckon my results should come in about 10 days. Normally mine come in about 12-14 days but everyone else seems to be getting there's quite quickly so hopefully mine will be the same. smile.gif

Hey - you don't need to thank me! I'm sure you would have thought of something!!

Well done, I am practising for my Grade 6 at the moment. What keys did the examiner ask you for the scales and arpeggios, as my teacher says they always ask for the hard ones but...... i dunno, hopefully they'll ask me an easy one. biggrin.gif

Scott
Lisa87
Scott - I got all hard ones & so did anakrron but that doesn't mean to say that you'll get the same ones. I think I only got one major scale which was B major & then the rest were mostly melodic minors but I did get a few harmonic ones.

I'm doing Allegro, Vals Poetico & Lavender's Kind of Blue (from the alternative list).

I'm doing exactly the same ones! Isn't that exciting? Which one did you find the most fun to play? I think that I prefer the Lavender thingy, because it's nice and easy-going. The Allegro is pretty fast and I do find myself tripping over myself in my attempts to bash it out...

Well done for your exam. I have NO idea when mine is... unsure.gif

Well I did like playing Lavender's Kind Of Blue because it was so relaxing but I have to say that I loved playing Allegro even though it was tricky & very fast. smile.gif I think I just liked the fact that there were so many different sections & it sounded so cheeky & fun! The one I liked the least was Vals Poetico. It was a nice piece but I didn't particularly like playing it as it was a bit jumpy.

Are you taking Grade 6 this term?

Lisa xxx
Starkey7
No, I'm not taking grade six this term. This is because I'm at university and having lessons here, but I shall be back at home (many miles away) when the July exams happen. So I think I'm down to do the exam in December (2006), instead.

Unfortunately, I have to play the Allegro in a student concert on the third of May this year, which I feel sure will be an interesting experience. Hmm...

The Poetico Vals is a really tongue-in-cheek piece, don't you think? I think that I like it, but we shall see.

Well good luck for when you take it in December! It seems such a long way off but I bet it'll come round really quickly. smile.gif

Playing the Allegro in a concert will be good practise for you as if you can play it well in front of lots of people then you're sure to play it even better in front of just one person in the exam. Also, you will have had more time to practise it by the time December comes so I'm sure it'll sound great!

I did like Vals Poetico & it was very tongue-in-cheek but it just wasn't my favourite out of the three pieces. I did a lot of pedal work on it which made it sound a lot better but because the pedal was so high up in the exam I had to make sure it didn't flick up & make that silly squeaking noise! rolleyes.gif It made it harder to play but hopefully it didn't show in my performance.

Who knows when is the next exam is ? The date ?

Closing date for the summer session is 28th April, with the earliest exams on 12th June; winter deadline is 23rd September, with the first exams in early November.
BabyBanana
12th June is the summer/spring ( whatever you wish to call it ) is the examation happening?
Deborah
Sorry BabyBanana, I don't understand what you mean. The exam period runs for several weeks, and you (or your teacher) won't get the exact date until well after the application has been submitted, usually about a fortnight before the exam. 12th June is the first day of the first week of the summer session.
BabyBanana
Oh. Ok thank you . Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Corant, Impromptu and Bagatelle No. 9. (got 27 for each of them). Surprisingly, my lovely-in-person examiner was actually a lovely marker - what a nice woman!

Wow well done! I've just started working on mine along with another exam, doing Corante, Vals Poetico (sp?) and Feelin' Good - the Corante seems to be popular but the other's don't! I like the poetico one! tongue.gif

Oooh, I did Corant and Vals Poético too (my third one was Prayer of the Matador). They're all lovely pieces - in fact, I like nearly all of the pieces on the Grade 6 syllabus. Vals Poético is so short and sweet, but you can put so much into it than it seems at first. And with Corant, try not to let the ornaments slow you down: that was the comment I got from my examiner. smile.gif Have fun!

Hi Boo & Anakrron smile.gif

No, I STILL haven't got my results yet!!! ohmy.gif It'll be 3 weeks on Wednesday since my exam so I'm starting to get a little worried as I've never had to wait this long for results before. My teacher had three other pupils doing exams on the same day as me & they haven't had theirs either.

I'm going on holiday tomorrow for 5 days so if my results come while I'm away then my teacher's going to text me to let me know how I've done.

Anyway, thanks for asking! smile.gif

My second to last exam took 3 weeks and one day - was not long before Christmas.

Was horrible waiting that long! You have my sympathy.
