Do! Our kids' first piano teacher used to be the Icelandic consul here, and her husband says that everyone should go at least once...My husband gave himself a trip there for his 40th, and was so taken by it that he then went on to take me there too a few years later. It was amazing. Even in March. You can go swimming out of doors when the outside temperature is below freezing in geothermally heated pools.

I know. People are always (rightly) praising the natural beauty of Iceland, but I'm also interested in the particularities of the Icelandic culture; those people are special in many ways!

do go, Iceland is absolutely brilliant. 3 weeks, years ago, barely scratched the surface. And it's closer than New Zealand .... some random common themes being geysers, hot pools, lamb, glaciers, volcanoes, black sand, open spaces, independant resouceful island dwellers and corrugated iron.
