Wouldn't it be uncomfortable on your lip?

Well, my flute teacher has an engraving, but no stones encrusted and she says hers is done in such a way that you can't tell it is engraved...

The engraving is more than just decorative usually - it helps the flute "stay put" on your lip, and I guess the HJ makers have found ways of engraving it just enough to provide a bit of friction, but not so much that it's uncomfortable.

Nicki: what does your flute teacher have on hers?

I've never even tried a handmade HJ one day I'll get to!!
